O'Halloran in St Johnstone squad as 'nothing happening' with Rangers
Tommy Wright says he is delighted to have a key player available to face Celtic this weekend.
St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright has said that Michael O'Halloran will be back in his squad this weekend and that there is '"nothing happening" regarding a move to Rangers.
The Ibrox club have already seen bids for the 25-year-old attacker rejected and Wright took the step of leaving O'Halloran out of his squad last weekend, saying the speculation had affected the player.
Wright told STV he hadn't heard of any further contact from Rangers and, with O'Halloran back to his best in training, the forward would be in the squad to face Celtic on Saturday.
"I haven’t spoken to the chairman since Tuesday night and then there was no change in the situation," Wright said.
"Michael’s trained all week. He’ll train today and tomorrow.
"He’s been good in training on Monday and Tuesday so he’ll be in the squad on Saturday.
"There’s nothing more to report on it."
The manager made it clear that there was no desire to move on a key player in January and that he had seen an improvement in O'Halloran in recent days.
"From my point of view, I’m delighted. I want him here," he added.
"We haven’t been actively trying to sell him and we want to keep him so unless it changes dramatically over the next 48 hours he’ll be in the squad for Saturday.
"[His frame of mind] is a lot better. I think last week , I know it’s been bubbling in the background but, it reached its height. I just felt he was down a bit in terms of his training but this week he’s been excellent so I see no reason why I shouldn’t include him.
"You’re always fearful of losing your best players but we haven’t lost anybody yet. The way things are at the minute, nothing’s happening."
