Theresa May 'handed P45' amid coughing fit during speech
Lee Nelson managed walk up to the Prime Minister despite heavy security.
The Prime Minister has been handed a mock P45 form during her speech to the UK Conservative Party conference.
Theresa May was on stage when comedian Lee Nelson leapt from a seat near the front row of conference hall and walked up to the foreign secretary Boris Johnson before giving May the piece of paper.
He was escorted out of the building by security after the prank and was booed by audience members.
May's speech was also interrupted by a coughing fit for much of her address.
The Chancellor handed the Prime Minister some sweets to help her but it did not appear to work and May continued to cough throughout her address.
In a bid to rally May, audience members gave her a standing ovation while she moved away from the microphone to clear her throat.
As she restarted her speech after the P45 incident, the Prime Minister said: "I was about to talk about someone I would like to give a P45 to and that's Jeremy Corbyn."
Things got worse for May when two letters from a sign with the conference's slogan, 'Building a country that works for everyone', fell off while she was speaking.
Before being interrupted in her address to party members, May apologised for the Conservative's loss of seats in the general election in June.
The Prime Minister said the campaign had been "too scripted, too presidential."
"I hold my hands up for that... I led the campaign and I am sorry," she said.
