Davidson: Tories must 'unite and fight' for the union
The Scottish Conservative leader said her party can burst Jeremy Cobryn's 'bubble'.
Ruth Davidson has called on her party to "unite and fight" to ensure Scotland continues to remain as part of the UK.
The plea was made after weeks of infighting amongst senior Conservatives over the direction of the country during Brexit and Theresa May's continued leadership of the party.
Davidson told delegates to her party's UK conference in Manchester that the country needed "more union" and the country's wealth should "not just based in London" but spread across the UK.
The MSP is widely seen as a potential leader of the UK-wide party, but she told delegates she has "no plans" to live in London any time soon.
The Scottish Conservative leader: "These are the things I believe in and I know you believe in them too.
"So it's time for us - all of us - to unite and fight. Unite and fight for the union of our nation, for the security people want, for the prosperity families need and for the future our young people deserve.
"Unite and fight for this country we are proud to serve."
Davidson also used her speech to take aim at both Labour and the SNP.
She said the Conservative's can burst Jeremy Corbyn's bubble.
"Commentators, who should know better, declaring Jeremy Corbyn as a shoo-in to number 10, just because Glastonbury chanted his name to the White Stripes. Folks, he hasnae even won a raffle," she said.
Scottish voters returned the Conservatives as the second largest party at both the most recent Holyrood and Westminster elections, and Davidson says they "must be ready to change and to win."
"I don't know about you, but after ten years of SNP Government, it seems to me like it's time for a new broom," she said.
"It's not going to be Scottish Labour, by the way.
"They swap leaders so often that Trump's communications director feels sorry for them."
