SNP general election candidate faces Law Society probe
Former lawyer Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh says the inquiry centres on 'administrative matters'.
An SNP general election candidate is being investigated by the Law Society.
Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh, who won the Ochil and South Perthshire seat in 2015, said the probe centres on "administrative matters" at her former firm.
Ms Ahmed-Sheikh said she was "proud" of her 17-year legal career and would continue to seek re-election.
"The Law Society has a duty to uphold professional standards and they must be allowed to do so without prejudice," she said.
"In the meantime, I'm getting on with fighting this election campaign and seeking re-election to stand up for the people of Ochil and South Perthshire."
The Law Society of Scotland declined to comment but a spokesman for the SNP confirmed the party was aware of the inquiry and said Ms Ahmed-Sheik was "cooperating fully".
He added: "Hundreds of issues are raised with the Law Society every year and it is right that they investigate them."
Ilyan Stefanov is standing in Ochil and South Perthshire for the Liberal Democrats, as are Labour's Joanne Ross and Conservative Luke Graham.
