As the eyes of the world turn to America to see the outcome of the US presidential election, STV's coverage promises to keep you informed and enthralled.

A special results programme will air on STV from 10.45pm, providing rolling political analysis as each state is called.

Results from Virginia and North Carolina are expected as early as midnight, and will offer a good indication of the strength of Hillary Clinton's claim for the presidency.

Florida and Ohio, crucial swing states for Donald Trump with 29 and 18 electoral votes on offer respectively, are also among the earliest expected announcements - between midnight and 1am.

Polling should close in the last state, Alaska, by around 6am.

STV's digital politics reporter, Aidan Kerr, will also be on hand to offer his analysis on Twitter (@AidanKerrPol) and via the STV News app.

The most recent polling data suggests that Clinton goes into election day with a five point lead over rival Trump, but a recent Fox News poll indicated her lead may be as slender as a single point.

Whether you decide to go the distance or opt for waking up in the morning to find out the result, at STV we'll have all the latest reactions and analysis from election for the 45th President of the United States.
