Politicians and volunteers from both sides of the EU referendum campaign have begun their final day of campaigning.

Nicola Sturgeon has started the Remain campaign's day at Edinburgh Airport in a bid to highlight the economic benefits she believes flows from the European Union to Scotland.

The SNP leader also warned that Brexit would lead to more economic powers being in the hands of a "right-wing Tory government".

The First Minister said: "Being part of Europe is good for Scotland's economy - and is key to our future growth and prosperity.

"EU membership means access to the world's biggest single market, with 500 million people to sell our goods and services to - creating jobs and making Scotland an attractive place to invest.

"But while the economic advantages to Scotland are clear, the fact is that if the UK votes to Leave tomorrow, more economic powers will be in the hands of a right-wing Tory government at Westminster - and we know that so many of the pro-Brexit Tories are just itching to use a Leave vote as an excuse for even further austerity cuts.

She continued: "With less than 24 hours until voting begins, the polls across the UK are on a knife-edge - and Scotland has a real opportunity to play a decisive role in the outcome.

"By uniting to vote Remain in big numbers tomorrow, people in Scotland can protect the huge economic benefit and jobs our membership of Europe brings - and make clear that we reject putting even more of our economy under the control of a right-wing Tory government."

Speaking on Monday night Scottish Vote Leave director Tom Harris called on voters to ignore "doom mongers" and "scare stories" and back his organisation's campaign to leave the European Union.

The former Labour MP said the country does not have to accept "uncontrolled immigration" and can "take back control" of the country's borders.

Harris said: "As Scottish Voters make their decision tomorrow, let's not listen to the doom mongers, and scare stories. Let's not be bullied into voting against more powers for our Parliament, and control over our lives

"This is our last chance to vote for hope, to vote to be free to make our own laws, and to be free to control our own borders.

"We don't need a failing EU to hold our hand, we don't need to send millions every week to Brussels and we don't have to accept uncontrolled EU migration. We can take back control.

"This opportunity is fantastic for Scotland. An opportunity to create a global Scotland with global ambitions. It's an opportunity to finally take back control over our borders and create a fair immigration system for all

"I hope the people of Scotland take it with both hands"
