Holyrood poll puts Tories in second place
The poll also indicates that the SNP will form a second majority government on Thursday.
The Tories could leapfrog Labour as Scotland's second largest party on Thursday, a poll has suggested.
Ahead of the Holyrood election this week the poll by Survation for the Daily Record indicates that Scottish Labour could be facing their worst election result in Scotland since December 1910.
In the constituency section of the poll Scottish Labour are ahead by two percentage points but in the regional list vote the Scottish Conservatives are ahead of Labour by one percentage point. Both parties expect the majority of the seats which they will win on Thursday will come from the regional list making this the crucial section for the parties.
Polling expert Prof. John Curtice has said that the race for second "is now officially too close to call".
The Survation survey is also the latest in a trend of opinion polling to indicate that the SNP look likely to form a second majority government.
When the polling figures are crunched into the Scotland Votes seat predictor it indicates that a second SNP majority government will be formed with the Scottish Conservatives forming the main opposition.
The poll results are mixed news for the Scottish Liberal Democrats who would on the basis of the seat predictor increase their MSP tally by one but would be overtaken by the Scottish Greens.
