A paraglider was airlifted to hospital after crashing on a hill fort in Aberdeenshire.

Rescuers were called to Tap o' Noth, near Ryhine, at around 10.30am on Saturday after the 26-year-old man injured his leg in the crash.

The man was traced by police officers from Huntly and Alford, and thereafter airlifted by the coastguard helicopter to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with a suspected broken leg.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "About 10.25am on Saturday, March 2, Police Scotland officers from Huntly and Alford attended at the Tap o' Noth regarding the report of a paraglider having crashed into the hillside there.

"A 26-year-old male was traced and airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by a coastguard helicopter with a suspected broken leg."
