A student who threw a rucksack of illegal drugs out of the window of his flat was snared when his McDonald's discount card was found inside.

Yussuf Adedeji was arrested following a raid at his Aberdeen home in July this year.

The 19-year-old, a student at Robert Gordon University, now faces a lengthy jail-term after pleading guilty to a string of drug supply charges at the High Court in Glasgow.

The trial heard police were called to Adedeji's home after receiving a tip-off that he had thrown a bag of drugs out of his window.

Prosecutor Eric Robertson said a rucksack was discovered near the student's Aberdeen flat.

When officers went through the bag they found substances including cocaine and ecstasy.

Mr Robertson told the trial the bag also contained "a McDonald's discount card belonging to him as well as student identification".

Having identified Adedeji, police raided his home where more drugs were discovered including cannabis, ketamine and a tranquilliser called alprazolam

In total, substances worth £140,000 were seized from Adedeji's home and the rucksack.

Text messages on the student's phone later showed he had been involved in drug dealing.

Adedeji was charged, but later bailed on the grounds he hand over his passport within 24 hours.

However, the next day he called police to claim he had been abducted and robbed.

It was then discovered Adedeji had got on a bus from Aberdeen bound for London.

The coach was eventually stopped in Lancaster and Adedeji was apprehended. It later emerged he planned to catch a flight to Nigeria.

Lord Burns remanded Adedeji in custody as sentencing was deferred for reports.
