A driver has been arrested after a crash in which two elderly pedestrians were injured.

The incident happened on Station Road, Ellon, at around 10.20am on Tuesday.

A man and a woman in their 80s were injured in the collision and were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Police confirmed on Wednesday that a 43-year-old woman had been arrested following the crash.

She has been charged in relation to alleged road traffic offences and will appear in court in due course.

A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
