Site of new Forfar early learning centre announced
The centre will be built on the site of the former Forfar Academy on Taylor Street.
The site of a new purpose-built early learning and childcare centre in Forfar has been chosen.
Councillors announced this week that the centre will be built on the site of the former Forfar Academy on Taylor Street.
The centre will provide early-years learning for 155 children from the town.
It is being built as part of a £5.2m Scottish Government investment into early years education in Angus.
A second centre is also being built in Carnoustie, with both projects going out to tender to construction firms this summer.
Councillors expect the Carnoustie centre will be completed by late 2019, with the Forfar campus opening by mid-2020.
Derek Wann, vice-convener of children and learning, said: "This is a fantastic addition to our early years learning estate and is an important step in offering the service for all our young people.
"I look forward to this project getting under way and thereafter opening."
