Wheelie bin blaze causes 'extensive' damage to nearby cars
The deliberate fire spread to a fence before destroying a Honda Civic and BMW 3 Series.
Two cars have been extensively damaged after a wheelie bin was set on fire in Glenrothes.
At around 4.30am on Monday the wheelie bin was set on fire, which then spread to a nearby fence and the silver Honda Civic and black BMW 3 Series.
Police Scotland are appealing for the public's help in finding those responsible.
Detective constable Stephanie Drummond said: "This was a hugely reckless act and, thankfully, the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service before it could spread any further.
"As part of our investigation, we'd urge anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the area around this time, or who has any information which might be relevant, to contact us as soon as possible."
