Emergency services and other organisations were put through their paces to test their response to a major incident on the River Tay.

Charity Taymara provided two vessels which were used to simulate a collision on the river, and there were a number of dummies in the water to simulate people in distress.

The multi-agency emergency response exercise started at 6pm between Moncrieffe Island and Newburgh, and lasted around four hours.

Anyone that spotted a large police presence during this time are told not to be worried.

Exercise director Ross Greenhill said: "We always say this is training for the day that we hope will never come.

"It's difficult to get everyone together for an exercise so this is a rare opportunity to test all the emergency services in a controlled environment without putting the public at risk.

"This makes sure that if a real emergency happens, we are well prepared for the challenges that major incidents can bring."
