Perth's historic lanes are playing host to installations, music and poetry in a 12-hour arts event.

Eight artists will transform the vennels on Saturday to encourage the public and other artists to imagine the city and its public spaces in a different light.

There will also be food, drink, poetry and musical performances in Guard Vennel, which is a disused public space of Mill Street near Perth Concert Hall.

Local musician Craig Lithgow and spoken word artist Rana Marathon are among the performers.

Perth architect Fergus Purdie RSA, a co-curator of ReCAP, said: "ReCAP is an exciting and inspiring project that provides a great opportunity for local participation.

"I hope this will encourage everyone to see and use these, sometimes forgotten, public spaces differently.

"This event, done in a unique and fun way, will explore our city's heritage and future potential."

ReCAP runs from 10am to 10pm on Saturday.
