Britain's biggest gymnastics festival returns to Aberdeen this weekend.

Gymnasts from across the country will take centre stage and show off their talents at Gymfest 2018 at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

More than 1100 gymnasts in 55 teams from the UK and Ireland will perform in five different shows over Friday to Sunday.

Each team's routine is a unique blend of skills, colourful costumes and choreography set to music, inspired this year by popular artists, characters and films including Beyoncé, James Bond and La La Land.

The non-competitive festival promotes gymnastics for everyone, regardless of ability, age and gender.

This year's gala evening will begin with Astro Eden from Livingston who won a gold medal when representing Great Britain at last year's World Gym for Life challenge in Norway.

Spartan Seniors from Dunfermline who were semi-finalists in Britain's Got Talent will feature on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Scottish Gymnastics chief executive, Euan Lowe, said: "This is the biggest display event in our calendar, and a celebration of the non-competitive side of the sport.

"Gymfest began more than 30 years ago to promote gymnastics for all, whatever their age or ability, and it is inspiring to see gymnasts of different ages enjoying working together and producing such skilful and entertaining performances."
