Pupils and staff celebrate opening of new £13m school
A ceremony and time capsule marked the opening of Tayview Primary and Menzieshill Nursery.
Pupils and staff have celebrated the official opening of a new £13m school in Dundee.
The Tayview Primary and Menzieshill Nursery building replaces the former Gowriehill and Hillside primaries, as well as the original Menzieshill Nursery.
On Tuesday children from the school performed in an opening ceremony and helped seal a time capsule containing mementoes of the new school's creation.
Former council chief executive David Dorward was also on hand to unveil plaques to mark the occasion.
Gregor Murray, the council's children and families service convener, said: "The official opening is a fantastic day for the community of Tayview Primary and Menzieshill Nursery, and a real cause for celebration.
"Seven new schools are opening in Dundee this year, representing a huge investment in the future of this city.
"We are committed to improving attainment and ensuring that even more of our young people are able to take advantage of new opportunities.
"The provision of a high quality learning and teaching environment for young people is an important part of these efforts."
