A lifeboat rescue carried out by crew from Fraserburgh during the First World War is among six heroic stories to be featured in a national exhibition.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) led project, Hope in the Great War, tells the story of the rescue of 14 people from SS Glenravel when she was targeted by a German submarine on August 8 1915.

The story will be depicted through pictures and text and includes an animation of the rescue created with help from members of the Fraserburgh Sea Cadets.

Since 1824 RNLI crews and lifeguards have saved over 142,200 lives.

The exhibition will be at the Arbuthnot Museum in Peterhead until April 8, before touring the UK.
