A Christmas themed dog show will be taking place in Aberdeenshire on Easter Sunday after being postponed in December.

Snow and temperatures of -10 degrees forced the outdoor show originally planned for December 10 last year to be called off.

Event organiser Rebekah Jarps will now hold the competition Sunday, April 1 keeping the original festive theme. The new date is also the same day as her birthday.

She told STV News: "I love Christmas and I love dogs so I though why not make it one big celebration.

"We have had a few people asking if it's a April fools joke, and I've had to say 'no, no, it's going ahead'."

There will be nine different categories, sponsored by a member of the public or a business.

Canines will compete for titles such as Best Pup, Golden Oldie and Best biscuit Catcher with Best in Show for the overall winner.

Keeping with the theme, the prettiest pooches will be crowned Mrs Claus and Mr Claus with Santa Claus himself on hand to dish out gifts and take photos.

Both dogs and owner are being encouraged to wear fancy dress or if still feeling festive, Christmas jumper and hats.

The 25-year-old, who lives in Alford and runs her own business Be Pet Toys, hopes to raise around £1,000 for Guide Dogs UK.

Miss Jarps choose the charity as her Grandfather, who is registered blind, is currently waiting on getting a guide dog himself.

Registration will take place at 11am at Newtonhill's Bettridge Centre with the first contest at 11.30am.
