Dundee has been announced as the host city for an international games technology conference.

Game-On 2018 has previously been hosted in London, Japan and Egypt, and will attract delegates from all over the world.

The event in September will focus on simulation and artificial intelligence (AI) within gaming, and workshops and tutorials will be delivered by Abertay University academics.

The conference aims to share knowledge in the programming community and steer young people into the industry.

It will concentrate mostly on the programming of games, with special emphasis on simulation, AI and fuzzy sets, and physics related computer graphics.

Software providers will be able to show their latest packages and give hand-on tutorials for the participants.

Abertay lecturer Dr Dave King said: "This conference will really showcase advances in computer games and the wide-ranging programme of talks and workshops we have in store will mean there is something for everyone.

"Our undergraduate computer games courses are consistently rated the best in Europe and, as such, Abertay provides the ideal venue for this conference.

"I'm looking forward to the event, both to present my own research on how AI can be used in gaming and to hear about work being undertaken in computer games technology at other institutions across the world."
