The new Carers Scotland Act 2016 is designed to support carers' health and well-being.
Carers in Dundee are visiting schools to ensure staff and pupils are ready for policy changes affecting young carers.
The new Carers Scotland Act 2016 is designed to support carers' health and well-being to help make caring more sustainable and will come into force next month.
Young carers and staff from Dundee Carers Centre have launched a series of roadshows to explain the changes to the policy.
Secondary schools pupils will take part in activities and games to raise awareness of young carers experiences and the support available in schools.
Public Health's Aileen Campbell attended the first event and spoke to pupils at Baldragon Academy on Monday.
Ms Campbell said "The Carers Act, which will soon come into force, introduces a new right to request or be offered a Young Carer Statement, to capture the support needs and personal outcomes of the young carer, including their ambitions to study or work alongside their caring role.
"All young carers have a right to be children and young people first and foremost, to continue with their education in school, college or university, and not to lose out due to the demands of their caring role."
