New £8.9m multi-use community centre proposed for Dundee
If approved, the new facility is expected to take around a year to build.
A new £8.9m multi-use community centre has been proposed for Menzieshill in Dundee.
If approved, the facility will have two games halls, community multi-purpose rooms, a fitness suite, library, and cafe.
Work on the new facility could start as soon as next month if the development committee approve the bid on Monday.
According to a report submitted as part of the bid, the total projected cost of the project will be £13.2m when fees, land purchase, furniture and landscaping are taken into account.
Councillor Lynne Short said: "Many of the positive things I have done in my life can be traced back to spending countless happy hours at Menzieshill Community Centre when I was wee.
"Facilities like this don't just benefit our children for the few hours a day or week that they are there, but for years into the future when the friendships they make, the life lessons they learn and the physical activities they enjoy help to create happy, healthy adults."
The new community facility is expected to take around a year to build.
