Luxury tourist development approved for Aberdeenshire
The Royal Arch Holiday Park is expected to bring nearly £1.5m to Aberdeenshire.
Proposals for a luxury tourist development near Fettercairn have been approved by Aberdeenshire Council.
The Royal Arch Holiday Park at Dowrieburn will see the removal of an abandoned piggery and a clean-up of the local river bank.
Included in the plans are walking tracks, cycle tracks and a nature trail.
Tourism and Leisure Solutions say the project could bring "significant economic benefits" to Aberdeenshire, with the development expected to bring nearly £1.5m into the local economy.
The project is now awaiting approval from the infrastructure services committee.
Organiser Bill McDonald said: "Clearly we are delighted by this decision.
"It clears the way for what will be an exciting addition to top of the range tourist accommodation in Aberdeenshire.
"We will begin the demolition and decontamination of the site as soon as possible - within the next few weeks.
"We should have the site ready for the first lodges by spring of next year.
"Between now and then we will be investing over £1.5m in infrastructure and services and creating employment."
