A series of evening talks open to the public on the theme of connected transport systems of the future are to begin on Wednesday.

The presentations will examine how the future of transport systems might look and the increasing role of technology, as well as how transport solutions can be developed between cities and rural areas.

The talks are part of the European-wide Civitas Portis transportation project which is worth £3.2m to the north-east, led by Aberdeen City Council.

The talks are being held on February 28, March 28, April 26 and May 30.

Councillor Barney Crocket said: "We encourage people to think about using alternative forms of transport such as walking or cycling, and we're also working hard to look at existing and future transport infrastructure needs for the city and wider area.

"We need to continue to work hard and make new IT transportation systems meet the pace of change and work best for Aberdeen, its people and its port.

"I'd encourage anyone with an interest in sustainable transport and how technology is used for transportation infrastructure to come along to the events."
