Aberdeen pupils lead way in sugar consumption campaign
SUGAR SMART is a UK-wide programme run by Jamie Oliver and food charity Sustain.
Pupils at an Aberdeen school have launched a month long campaign to raise awareness of consuming too much sugar.
Heathryburn School is the pilot school in the SUGAR SMART programme run by food charity Sustain and Jamie Oliver.
The UK-wide campaign aims to transform the pupils' food environment and lead the way in supporting Aberdeen residents to lead healthier lives.
Children will be challenged to "ditch the fizz" for two weeks, take part in quizzes and poster and video making while enjoying health snacks.
Councillor John Wheeler said: "Among our key outcomes for our children and young people are a sense of healthiness and well-being.
"This fantastic project ties perfectly into our ambitions for young Aberdonians and it's great to see mums and dads taking part as well."
