Motorists face weekend delays as part of the A947 at Goval prepares for resurfacing works.

The work will take place from 8pm on Friday until 6am on Monday as part of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route project.

Temporary traffic measures will be in operation while the contractor completes the work that will connect the new A947 with the existing A947.

Additional signage will be in place to advise road users when the convoy restriction is in operation.

During busier traffic flow periods, work will cease and the convoy restriction will be removed.

Temporary traffic signals will be in use for the full weekend.

A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: "The previously planned works at this location had to be rescheduled as poor weather conditions prevented surfacing works from being undertaken.

"The works planned for this weekend are therefore also weather dependent and are subject to further change.

"The temporary traffic signals and convoy working are required to enhance the safety of road workers, who will be working in close proximity to traffic.

"This requires road users to stop at temporary traffic signals.

"During quieter periods, the contractor will escort road users through the works at 10mph as part of a convoy for safety reasons, using an official site vehicle.

"We would like to encourage those drivers who would normally consider using the A947 at Goval to allow themselves additional travelling time so that they can reach their destination safely and on time."
