Adoption and fostering services praised in new report
Two Care Inspectorate assessments recorded an improved performance in Dundee services.
Adoption and fostering services in Dundee have been praised following "impressive and inspiring" inspection reports.
Two recent Care Inspectorate assessments recorded an improved performance in care and support for both services.
Foster carers told inspectors they felt "valued and proud" following a civic reception given in their honour.
Adopters also reported feeling well supported through the process and staff were "highly motivated".
The children and families service committee will hear details of the reports on Monday and discuss how improvements will be taken forward for the future of the services.
Children and families service convener Gregor Murray said: "These are impressive and inspiring reports which reflect the hard work that is put in by our staff.
"They put in so much effort to help and support those who take the decision to become foster parents and adopters.
"I would also like to express my gratitude to these families for what they do to look after some of the most vulnerable young people in our communities."
Dundee City Council is appealing for more people to come forward as carers for the city's vulnerable young people.
Mr Murray added: "We are always appealing for people to come forward to become foster carers or adoptive parents.
"Anyone who is interested should call 01382 436060 as it could make a real difference to the lives of children in this city."
