Call for donations as three food banks open in Perthshire
Culture Perth and Kinross have launched their new food bank initiative this week.
Residents are being urged to make food donations as a three new food banks open in Perthsire this week.
Culture Perth and Kinross opened a new food bank collection point at the AK Bell Library on Wednesday.
Three further collection points at Auchterarder, Blairgowrie and Loch Leven Community Libraries are to be available by the end of the week.
Chief Executive of Culture Perth and Kinross Helen Smout said: "I am pleased to announce that Culture Perth and Kinross will be supporting Perth and Kinross Foodbank by offering collection points at the AK Bell Library, plus other collection points in Auchterarder, Blairgowrie and Kinross.
"We know how generous our customers are and that's why we're offering food collection points for those most in need in Perth and Kinross."
Last year the centre in the city's Cutlog Vennel fed 4719 local people in crisis, including 1184 children.
Over the festive period staff were overwhelmed by donations, reporting that they received four-months-worth of food in only six weeks.
