Council calls for 15 new foster families to meet demand
Aberdeen City Council said it needs more families to become foster carers.
Fifteen new foster families are needed in Aberdeen in order to meet the current waiting list of children, according to the city council.
Currently in Aberdeen, there are 20 children awaiting temporary placements and a further 15 who need a permanent space.
If enough families are not found in the city, children could face being moved further afield to find a foster place.
The city council is holding a series of public events to encourage people from all walks of life to consider looking after a young person.
Councillor John Wheeler said: "Foster carers play a vital role in ensuring that our children, young people and families experience the best outcomes possible.
"I would encourage anyone who has been considering foster caring to come along to what I am sure will be an interesting and informative event."
On Wednesday the first event gave visitors a chance to speak to current foster carers and members of the council's recruitment team and ask questions about fostering.
