Police are to expand their search for a 90-year-old man who has been missing for two weeks.

William Ritchie was last seen at his home on West Road in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire on Sunday, January 14.

Specialist teams including divers have been searching the surrounding area for any trace of him.

Police now say they will step up their search efforts next week.

A team will focus in the direction of Peathill, an area where Mr Ritchie may have walked to.

Earlier, police had released CCTV footage of Mr Ritchie at an Asda in December to give people a better idea of what he looked like.

Inspector Kevin Goldie, who has been overseeing enquiries, said: "There are a number of routes leading from Sandhaven to Peathill, all of which will be the focus of our attention moving forward into next week.

"Given the fact Bill could be known to walk for miles when at his fittest and that we have found no trace of him yet, it is crucial we expand our search area."

He continued: "If you saw Bill in the lead-up to January 14 but think it's too late to let us know, I would still urge you to come forward."

Mr Ritchie is 5ft 7in, slim, and has short, grey hair.
