Man jailed for threatening to rape officer's family
Neil Brown was stopped by police officers who believed he had been drunkenly driving.
A Dundee man who threatened to rape the mothers and daughters of police who tried to breathalyse him has been jailed.
Neil Brown shouted abuse at officers who believed he had been drunkenly driving a van in Dundee's outskirts.
The 30-year-old was asked to take a breathalyser test but refused.
Fiscal depute Joanne Smith said: "He smelled strongly of alcohol and was in possession of a key for a van.
"He shouted 'I'll rape your mother' and 'I'll kill you'.
"This then continued when he was taken to police HQ. Once inside he continued his tirade."
Dundee Sheriff Court heard that weeks later Brown, who was banned from driving, was caught behind the wheel of a van.
Brown pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening and abusive manner and failing to provide two specimens of breath when requested on August 3.
He also pleaded guilty to charges of driving while disqualified and uninsured on December 16 last year.
Brown was jailed for 15 months in total and banned from driving for two years.
Sheriff Tom Hughes said: "This was completely and utterly unacceptable.
"These officers were only trying to do their duty."
