Boy, 14, charged after fire ripped through school toilets
Police said the blaze caused more than £5000 damage at Meldrum Academy.
A 14-year-old boy has been charged with starting a fire at a school in Aberdeenshire.
The incident took place around 1.30pm on Monday at Meldrum Academy in Oldmeldrum.
More than £5000 of damage was caused by the blaze, which took place in the toilet area.
Police Scotland said a 14-year-old boy would would be referred to the youth justice management unit.
Sergeant Wayne Bedford said: "This incident has resulted in a significant amount of damage to a toilet area at the school which will be costly to repair.
"Thankfully the fire was extinguished quickly and no one was injured however it goes without saying that this could have been a far more serious incident."
