Teen 'battered mother and struck father with hammer'
Lewis Buchan, 19, is alleged to have carried out the attacks at two addresses in Dundee.
A teenager has been accused of battering his mother before seriously injuring his father with a hammer.
Lewis Buchan, 19, is alleged to have carried out the attacks on back-to-back days at two addresses in Dundee.
Buchan is said to have attacked his mum, Ann Hunter, at an address in Dundee's Finglass Street on June, 12, 2016.
Prosecutors say he seized her by the hair, dragged her across a room, threw her in to a bed and repeatedly struck her head against a wall.
The following day, he is alleged to have attended an address in Grampian Gardens, Dundee, and assaulted his father, Charles Buchan.
He is accused of repeatedly striking him on the head and body with a hammer after punching and kicking him.
Buchan faces further allegations of possessing an offensive weapon and two relating to the failure to appear in court for scheduled hearings as well as breaching bail.
Defence solicitor John Boyle said: "There is a special defence of self defence on one of the charges."
Fiscal depute Charmaine Gilmartin added: "We estimate the trial will take two days."
The trial will take place in February. Buchan has been remanded in custody.
