Motorists face delays during weekend road closures
A section of the B979 at Stonehaven will be closed from Friday evening.
Motorists in Aberdeenshire are being urged to plan their journey in advance this weekend while surfacing work takes place for the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route (AWPR) project.
A section of the B979 Netherley Road, between the new A90 southbound slip road and the Mains of Ury Junction, is expected to close from 8pm on Friday until 6am on Monday.
Contractors will realign the A90 northbound slip roads and carry out surfacing works as they construct the new Stonehaven Junction roundabout.
Diversions will be signposted during this time and access to the A90 via the new southbound slip road will be available from Stonehaven.
A Transport Scotland spokesperson said: "The contractor has been working closely with Police Scotland and the local authorities to ensure anyone who needs to use this section of the B979 Netherley Road this weekend has a viable alternative available to them, while enhancing the safety of road users and road workers.
"These works have been planned to take place at a time when traffic will be quieter to help minimise the impact they may have on road users.
"However, road users who would normally use this route should plan their journeys in advance so that they can reach their destination safely and on time.
"We would like to thank road users and the local community for their on-going support and patience during the construction works."
