Dundee named in top world destinations list for 2018
The City of Discovery has been named in Bloomberg's Where To Go In 2018 list.
Dundee has been named one of the top places to visit in 2018 alongside Los Angeles, Singapore and Florence.
Bloomberg has listed 22 of the "most exciting openings and events" happening across the world this year.
South Korea, Abu Dhabi, Jordan, Borneo, Namibia and Fiji also feature next to the City of Discovery on the Where To Go In 2018 list.
Bloomberg claims May is the best time of year to visit Tayside, citing the forthcoming V&A Museum as well as the RSS Discovery and the city's proximity to Edinburgh.
The article said: "Few international travellers have heard of this port town 60 miles north of Edinburgh. Locally, it's best known as the 19th-century centre of the jute trade and the (supposed) birthplace of orange marmalade.
"But later this year, Scotland's first design museum, the V&A Museum of Design Dundee, will open on the city's waterfront in a gleaming building that evokes a ship's prow jutting over the water; it will showcase Scotland's wide-ranging design legacy, including Hunter boots and Dennis the Menace cartoons."
It adds November to February is the worst time to visit Dundee as "the area's notoriously rainy weather is at its worst and the days are painfully short".
