Boost for Christmas shoppers as city centre road reopens
City Centre’s Upperkirkgate reopens to reduce traffic congestion.
An Aberdeen city centre road will reopen during the Christmas shopping rush.
Upperkirkgate will open to eastbound traffic between Flourmill Lane and Broad Street on Sunday.
The street has been shut while Broad Street is partially pedestrianised.
Council spokeswoman Marie Boulton said it would improve traffic flow for festive shoppers.
She said: "Reopening Upperkirkgate in December will enhance accessibility and traffic flow during the busiest shopping month of the year and is a positive step forward as we work towards the overall vision for Broad Street and the surrounding area."
Work on Upperkirkgate will start again in January 2018.
