Equalities secretary visits groups fighting for fairness
People affected by poverty in Dundee had the chance to talk about their experiences.
Equalities secretary Angela Constance has visited Dundee to support groups helping to tackle poverty.
She attended the Fighting for Fairness conference at the city's Steeple Church on Wednesday.
The group brings together people directly affected by poverty with policymakers and community leaders to tackle poverty in the most deprived parts of the city.
Ms Constance said: "We know poverty is an issue in Dundee and the Dundee Fighting for Fairness group are well aware of that and they are well aware of the size and the scale of poverty and inequality in Dundee.
"What you also have in Dundee is a real determination and a real will, at a community level but also amongst civic leaders, to work together to put the instead and the needs of the city and the people of Dundee first.
Jacky Close from Dundee Fighting for Fairness said: "People have been sharing their personal stories with all of the commission and they've talked about being really heard, being really listened to and feeling like their story has a purpose now, it's not just something they've experienced that's been difficult or challenging but it now has a purpose and can bring about change.
"So that sense of being heard and listen to and being understood is a really essential part of how this could work and will make the difference in Dundee."
