A family campaigning for better mortuary services in Moray is urging people to have their say on the location of a new site.

Maryan Whyte took action after her experience of identifying husband Frank's body at the Spynie Mortuary.

He died in a sailing accident in Findhorn bay last year.

Mrs Whyte said the mortuary failed to provide basic comforts such as a room for loved ones to sit in and say their goodbyes.

In July, Spynie was closed as a mortuary facility and now NHS Grampian plans to open a new service within Dr Gray's Hospital.

Mrs Whyte said: "They have been over the decades allowed to get into such poor conditions that actually they've not been part of the general up keep and up grade that's required in our NHS services.

"Now there is a chance across Scotland but here for Moray to actual put something that's going to be there for decades to come."

A public survey on four possible locations for the new site is open until the December 2.
