Toddler's bereaved mother takes part in road safety drive
Sara Edwards is addressing Tayside pupils as part of Safe Drive Stay Alive.
The mother of a Perthshire toddler killed by a speeding driver who had been texting behind the wheel is taking part in a road safety campaign.
Sara Edwards' daughter Harlow, two, was hit by a Ford Focus driven by Luke Pirie in Coupar Angus on October 13 last year.
Her mother is now addressing thousands of school pupils across Tayside as part of the annual Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow.
Bereaved parents, firefighters and doctors share their stories with young adults who are due to start driving.
Ms Edwards said: "She lit our lives up, literally so anything positive that we can find out of this we're going to.
"We feel really passionate about road safety and hopefully stopping something that happened to us happening to anyone else.
"I would love to be able to think that even one life is changes because we've taken part in this."
Ewan Baird from Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We look at the statistics from the previous year and look at the types of accidents that have taken place, and predominantly it's about driver distractions.
"Again with the use of mobile phones we're seeing this far too often that individuals within vehicles are getting distracted by alerts from mobile phones and that's when collisions happen."
Pirie was jailed for six years for causing Harlow's death by dangerous driving.
