Rocks will be placed around Dundee as part of a project to raise antibiotic awareness in Tayside.

NHS Tayside's Antimicrobial Management Team has teamed up with community project Carnoustie Rocks to put specially painted rocks, or "bugs", throughout Tayside for others to find.

This project is in support of World Health Organisation's Antibiotic Awareness Week and European Antibiotic Awareness Day on November 18.

The colourful antibiotic resistant bug-themed painted rocks will have awareness messages on them.

There will be clues on Carnoustie Rocks social media pages about the location of the rocks and photographs of those who have already found one.

Once found they can be kept or relocated for someone else to find.

Antimicrobial pharmacy technician Sarah Thomson is encouraging people to get involved in the campaign.

She said: "We hope as many people as possible take part in searching for our rock bugs to help us raise awareness of appropriate antibiotic use across Tayside.

"This is a fun way of getting local families involved and helps us spread the antibiotic awareness message.

"Antibiotic resistance is one of the biggest threats facing us today as without effective antibiotics, many infections will become increasingly difficult to treat."
