Petition launched to bring back Royal Arch to Dundee
The monument was demolished to make way for the Tay Road Bridge in the 1960s.
A petition has been launched to reintroduce an iconic Dundee monument.
Dundee Culture plans to appeal to the city council for a replica of the Royal Arch to be built.
The monument was situated at the waterfront for more than 100 years before it was demolished to make way for the Tay Road Bridge in the 1960s.
A previous campaign in 2015 to have the structure rebuilt attracted more than 2000 signatures.
Last summer a cardboard version of the monument was constructed close to its original position using over 1200 flat pack boxes.
The group now believe demand has risen again after this year's NEoN Digital Arts Festival featured a digital re-construction of the arch.
Founder and director of Dundee Culture, Andrew Batchelor said: "I created the petition as part of a follow up from a previous petition I created for Dundee Culture in 2015.
"The reason why I created the new petition was because I wanted to see what people thought about the Royal Arch two years on from the first petition I created.
"I know that the return of the Royal Arch is not a priority for the council, however, it is interesting to see what Dundee Culture fans think now and there is definitely a lot of debate on whether if people want to see it return or not."
