Addiction support group offers free boxing sessions
Alcohol and Drugs Action have teamed up with an Aberdeen gym.
An Aberdeen support group for people battling addiction say they have seen great results from offering boxing sessions.
Alcohol and Drugs Action have teamed up with a local gym to offer the classes to help those in recovery hone their physical and mental fitness.
As well as traditional methods of support, the group provides an hour of free exercise every week with the Byron Boxing club.
Finlay Colville from Alcohol and Drugs Action said: "It enables participants to increase their physical activity levels.
"That then has an impact on their mental well-being, increasing self esteem and confidence, all in a supportive setting with other people who have maybe been through the same issues."
Around 20 people have already taken advantage of the boxing scheme as part of their route to recovery.
Boxing coach Kevin Kerr said: "The levels of fitness from the first week to the last week were incredible.
"Fifteen minutes was the maximum they could do in the first week and by the end of the session everyone was doing one full hour of non-stop fitness activity."
