Dundee has launched its 2017 Light Nights programme for the start of the festive season.

Celebrations will begin with the annual switching on of the Christmas lights on November 24.

The ceremony is at the centre of a full weekend programme of events including a Torchlight Procession, Silent Movie Screening, Big Winter Warm Up Aerobics and a concert from Got Soul Choir.

People will also have a chance to get a selfie with Pingoo the giant penguin at Slessor Gardens Christmas Market.

On November 25, there will be ice carving demonstrations and a Sound of Dundee live music stage.

To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the McManus museum, a video installation will illuminate the side of the building.

The projections are part of Drawn to Light, a new commission bringing together artist Duncan Marquiss and experimental musician Jonnie Common.

The weekend celebrations will close with the city's first Santa Dash event on November 26.
