The new Charleston flyover over the A90 in Aberdeen will open to traffic on Friday night.

The bridge is a prominent part of the Aberdeen Western Peripheral project, which is part of Transport Scotland's commitment to improving travel in the north east.

Several diversions are in place as a result of the opening, with vehicles heading north to join Wellington Road now using the new slip road via the new Charleston Junction Bridge.

Motorists heading towards Bridge of Dee from Wellington Road will be temporarily diverted south along the A90 to the Findon junction while the old bridge is demolished.

Similarly, drivers heading from Bridge of Dee looking to take the slip road on to Wellington Road will also be diverted south, before doubling back north and using the new bridge.

Diversions on Wellington Road are expected to be in place for six weeks while the old bridge is demolished and the new roads on and off are completed.
