Two men have been charged with an assault in Aberdeen city centre last month.

Police were called out to the corner of Langstane Place and Dee Street shortly before midnight on September 4 after a man in his 30s suffered facial injuries.

He required medical treatment at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The two men, aged 24 and 27, have now been charged and are due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court.

Investigating officer Grant Hardie said: "I would like to thank those members of the public who provided information at the time in connection with this inquiry.

"Violence in any form is senseless and avoidable and will never be tolerated.

"Our activities though Operation Pine continue to support the work we do day-in day-out to reduce the number of victims of crime and proactively focus on those people who choose to behave in such a way."
