Plans for a new creative studio at Dundee's Waterfront have been approved.

Studio Dundee will focus on the creation and growth of entrepreneurial talent and creative industries in the city.

Start-ups and growing businesses will have access to co-working space, meeting rooms, break-out areas and technology lab.

Within the complex, there will be 122 private rented flats and a multi-purpose communal space with a café for events and exhibitions.

Work is expected to start in 2018 with up to 100 construction jobs created during the build period.

The facility will complement the Seabraes development on the Waterfront, a hub that will provide commercial and residential space for the digital media and cultural industries.

Dundee Waterfront project director Allan Watt said: "This is a further major development that will make a major contribution to the Central Waterfront area.

"We are delighted with progress and the level of interest we are receiving from developers and investors.

"Dundee Waterfront has nearly 1.5 million sq ft of 'shovel-ready' land ready for mixed-use development across 8 sites with more than £750m of investment already committed.

"We take a partnership approach to development and would urge businesses and entrepreneurs to approach us directly with their proposals."

Dundee Waterfront is a joint venture between Dundee City Council and Scottish Enterprise.
