A worker on the Aberdeen bypass has been hospitalised after suffering a head injury at the site just south of the River Dee crossing.

Union officials say the number of incidents is unacceptable and say they've concerns that pressure is being put on workers to make up time lost to wet weather.

A spokesman for Transport Scotland said contractor Aberdeen Roads were undertaking an investigation into the cause of the incident and would implement any lessons learned throughout the site.

Steven Dillon from Unite the Union said: "We have had a major concern over the number of accidents on the project.

"We are concerned that at this time of the year as it goes in to Autumn the jobs and the safety of workers are at a higher risk because of the weather conditions.

"We want to work together with all contractors to make sure no accidents take place on the job. That's our job as a trade union to protect the workers."
