Plans for new city centre play park given green light
The fenced off play park will be on land to the rear of the Overgate Centre.
A play area next to a busy city centre shopping centre has been given the green light by planners.
The fenced off play park will be on land to the rear of the Overgate Centre in Overgate Lane, between the multi storey car park and the telephone exchange.
Convener of Dundee City Council's city development committee Lynne Short said: "This is great news for retailers and shoppers with young children.
"We know that in order to entice people away from only doing their shopping on line, city centres must have added extras that make a trip into town worthwhile.
"So when you can combine shopping with a bit of fun for the kids at a safe, easily accessible play area what's not to like."
A plan submitted by the owners of the Overgate Centre shows a slide, swing, stepping stones, see-saw and balance beam all surrounded by safe surfacing.
