NTS accused of neglect in row over Victorian bridge
Environmental campaigners call for urgent work to Victoria Bridge near Braemar.
The National Trust for Scotland (NTS) has been accused of neglect on one of its flagship estates.
A campaigning conservationist says the Victoria Bridge at the entrance to Mar Lodge could soon become beyond repair.
The trust says it is aware of the problem but there are other priorities.
Built in 1905, the bridge near Braemar is showing signs of age with environmental campaigner Joe Dorward calling for swift action.
He said: "It's a Victorian iron bridge and it's not been painted in years. The gutters are full of dirt and weeds.
"The ironwork is severely rusting in places, so much so that there are holes in the ironwork."
The trust says it is still reeling from the huge repair bill caused by the Storm Frank floods in 2015.
Mar Lodge operations manager David Frew said: "We'd love to see this bridge repaired. We've intended to do it for a period of time and we've been overtaken by events like Storm Frank and previous flood events in 2014.
"We have a huge amount of infrastructure on the estate we have to repair so it's just a case of priorities and what comes first."
