Group leaders on Aberdeen City Council are to meet with COSLA chiefs, ahead of the council deciding if it will join the group again.

The meeting was arranged following the decision of the Tory-led administration to reject re-joining the organisation in May.

Cosla is the voice of local government in Scotland, working with councils around local democracy.

The SNP are in favour of returning to the organisation and made a pledge to do so in their manifesto.

SNP Group Leader Stephen Flynn said: "We have long argued that the council should be a member of CoSLA and, quite frankly, it's embarrassing that we are now the only local authority without representation."
