New £13.2m Dundee school opens its doors to pupils
The two-storey primary school replaces the former Gowriehill and Hillside buildings.
A piper played pupils into a new £13.2****m school as they started their first day on Friday.
Tayview Primary classes took part in a parade up Earn Crescent and then on to Dickson Avenue to enter the gates of the school.
The two-storey, three class per year primary school replaces the former Gowriehill and Hillside buildings.
Pupils helped devise the Tayview name and badge in the lead-up to completion of the new building.
Children and families service convener Gregor Murray said: "This is a fantastic day for the community and I am sure everyone will be impressed by this new primary and nursery school.
"Continuing investment into our school estate is crucial for the years ahead. We are committed to improving attainment and ensuring that even more of our young people are able to take advantage of new opportunities."
